COUNTDOWN to OPENING DAY @ SPYC

This Sunday, April 6, is our Opening Day here at San Pedro Yacht Club. Starting at 10:00 am, we will have the ceremonial introductions, followed by our boat parade, which traditionally is headed by our officers and members and where we place an offering of a wreath in honour of those we have lost in the past. On our return to the landing we will have a buffet lunch. Please come and enjoy with us the turning of the new fishing season.

..In The Beginning... Daze Gone By ...

There are a couple of articles below from the very beginning days of this revitalization & rebirth of our Newsletter here, the "SPYline", when yours truely first introduced herself to a computer and 'just decided it was time'!
Needless to say, as I was trying to have a "meeting of the minds" with said computer, I was going out of my mind, because I was not winning, and had not a clue as to why! There was no chance of even treading water without knowing how to play the game. So...I went along for the ride and let 'it' do whatever 'it' wanted (within reason--'it' did let me have suggestions and even asked me some questions trying to get to know me, which I thought was a friendly gesture . . . so I played nice!) I found that if I didn't try to make the rules and kept some sort of level of patience ('it' insisted upon that!!) we could actually get along. I began learning alot and have had a great amount of fun in the process. (Along with a few headaches and occasional temper flares, but no sense in giving any attitude to this thing-- 'it' will just STOP playing until 'it' feels you are worthy of 'it's' attention again, AND that you give 'it' the respect 'it' deserves for all that knowledge 'it' is capable of providing you with. *I said capable, NOT willing!!)
This has proven to become quite the relationship; we get along fairly well, as long as I don't get too pushy, expect too much, or over work the poor 'thing'!!! (ME?)

I've now had "SPYline" updates posted here on the Internet every week, sometimes twice & thrice, since Sept. 25, '07. It has been most fun and enlightening on this side; I hope it has been useful & enjoyable on your side.
In the trial and error stages, I had used this site only a couple times, and really liked the look of it. Unfortunately, because of my lack of knowledge, I found it wasn't as 'user friendly' and/or as easy to deal with as the one I've been using these past few months. Wanting to change the look with the coming new year, I started searching around for something different, good looking, eye catching, more professional and of course, 'user friendly'.
After many a grueling day, and far too many weeks of frustration, I decided to came back to this site, and give it one more try; mainly because I REALLY LIKE THE LOOK! It has proven to be beneficial. I guess I'm not as 'green', and 'it' (the Computer), is able to put up with me somewhat better than before! Ok, so I learned discipline and patience....and a whole lot more!
We are actually working well together these days, (or so I'd like to think!) and I see things coming together and running rather smoothly. Quite possibly, it looks like 'things' are GOING to work out! *Let me know what you think! Your input is very much appreciated, and it is nice to know how many people I'm actually reaching out there!
If there is EVER anything you'd like to see here, in these pages, or something around the Club, just let us know--this is your Club too, and we can "take it anywhere we like"! It all starts with a thought or an idea...& then, you just NEVER know! Uh-Oh! Someone's doing some thinking... I can see the smoke!
